Great practice at Rock Hill
February 20, 2011

OC took advantage of the open practice held at PBC - Rock Hill today and had a blast.  We tested our newest team members and feel like they did pretty good.  Still got some ruff edges but over all they hung in there and gave it their best.  I'm real proud of our D5 guys and know they are going to have a great time this season.  The D4 guys were also there and are looking real good.  Without front players they showed they will be a strong team this season.

OC will have a lite practice this weekend at Predator Paintball - Salisbury Saturday at 9am.  All team members that want to can come out for a lite wok out and some work on those skills they feel they need some more help on.

Jersey Printing
February 10, 2011

All team jersey's need to be turned in to Duck as soon as possible.  He needs to get them to the printer this coming week so they can be printed and back before the first tourny.  Please arrange to get you jersey to Duck or to Predator by this weekend.

Christmas message
December 24, 2010

Off Constantly would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  As we all settle down into the off season to spend time with our families and enjoy the holidays we should all pause for just a moment to think of and say a prayer for all the men and women of the US military.  They sacrificed their lives, careers and families to help defend our country.  The least we here at home can do is pause our lives, for just a moment, to think of them and thank them for all they are doing.  GOD bless all of our soldiers.

Also, as a side note, Off Constantly's next practice will be January 8th at 10am at Predator Paintball - Salisbury, NC.  Everyone is welcome!

Practice/ Try outs
November 29, 2010

Off Constantly will be holding try outs this coming weekend (12/05/10) at Predator Paintball - Salisbury during our practice.  Practice will start at 12noon.  If you wish to give it a try please email Duck (mike@fwcarrier.com) your intent to do so or if you have any questions you can email him those too.

Season wrap up
November 14, 2010

The 2010 CFOA season has finally come to a close.  For me, this season seemed like it would never end.  It has been an up and down season but we were able to keep our nose above water and finished near the front.

The 2010 season was a season of firsts for OC.  This season we had our first podium finish (second place in D4 CFOA - Dirty South Open) and we made it to the finals three different times (more than we ever have).  Because of these firsts, OC finished the season in second place over all (OC has never finished any where near that high in the season standings).  OC really hung in there this year.  It felt like we went from a high to a low, month after month.  We continued to grind but nothing came easy for us.  We had some attitude problems, reff problems, player problems, equipment problems and through it all we kept coming back.  We were able to keep our heads up, learn from the mistakes and come back better the next event.  I'm very proud of the guys and look forward to some time off before going back at it next season.

OC debuted our D5 team in the Home Coming event (CFOA's final event of the 2010 season) and the guys really played well.  They held their own all day and though there might be some room for improvement, they really played well.  I look forward to the 2011 season to be a great year for these guys.

What OC has been up to since May
October 15, 2010

Well, to catch you up on what OC has been up to the last few months.

In June events conspired against some of the OC team members. Money, Jobs, and Life in general all came together and prevented us from playing this event. It was decided that this would be the event that we sit out this season. In the CFOA a team gets one drop score for the season so this would be that event for us.

There was no event scheduled in July so OC took the month off and saved our money to get ready for the next event in August.

The August event was canceled by the CFOA due to an extreme storm that went through that area the week before the event. Though disappointed, OC kept practicing through the month of August to prepare for the September event in Rock Hill.

In September, OC made it back to the field after three months off. In the off time the CFOA changed up their format. They went back, in part, to the old format. In five man you play eight different teams, four of which are Pro-Am teams. OC, like the other D4 teams, gave it all we had against the Pro-Ams. We held our own with them but just got over powered by these teams. We did beat one of the Pro-Am's but could not pull out but one win against the D4 teams we were scheduled to play. We went 2 and 6 on the day. Sure, we didn't win but we played tough.

Though the scoreboard said we lost, there were some bright spots for us. We brought in a new team mate (Brandon Hogan) that carried his share of the load and preformed very well. We really had our bright spots on the day but we also had some dark moments. I saw some things from us that did not set well with me. Some of our old demons came back to the surface. One of the things transpired between team members that has never happened before. I guess in the growth of any team there will be times such as these. It is not something I will allow to ever happen again. We are a family and though we may be upset, we will not turn on each other because one of us may have made a mistake. When one of us feels they are so much better than their teammates that they lash out at their teammates to assign fault for a loss, that will be where it will end. We are not a team of super stars. We are a bunch of guys that started in this game together because we like the game. We win together as a team and we lose as a team. For a team member to admonish another team member like he does no wrong is not what we are about and will not EVER occur on this team again.

For the final event of the 2010 season OC will debut our D5 team. This team will be made up of the threeman teams that played out of Predator this season. Though they are mostly D6 players they are playing at a much higher level. I look forward to next season for these kids ad expect to see a lot of good things from them.

OC has played really well this season and we are currently in second place for the 2010 season but still no win. The last event of the season is November 13th (no event in October due to PSP World Cup) and I feel we will make OC history.

Off Constantly gets back to business in May
May 22, 2010

After a dismal showing in the April event, Off Constantly got back to business and played the CFOA Race to-2 event in Rock Hill, SC this past weekend (5/22/10). OC came out ready to play and get to the business of winning. Duck set the pace in the first game by running the length of the field to bunker out the last player of that game. From then on it was full on paintball. The boys came out in each and every prelim game ready to fight. All the BS from the last event was gone and they just went out and played paintball. In the prelims OC went 6 and 2. The two losses had no effect on the guys. They left those loses on the field and came back in the next match and kicked butt without any thought to the loss. The finals did not go as good. A few bad luck things happened (hoppers down, not making a bunker that we made all day, and even some calls that did not go our way) and OC let it effect them. OC went 0 and 4 in the finals to finish fourth for the tournament.

As is always the case, OC learns from every loss. We take the loss and figure out what went wrong. We fix what can be fixed and don't worry about the things that can't. The biggest thing we learned was to stop letting our minds beat us on the field. Leave the bad on the field and come back and play the next match that much harder. We learned that we must stop letting the bad things effect us so much. The guys also learned that we are closer than we thought. When one of us got down, it effected us all. We learned that we must work to keep each other in the game. We won't allow our team mates to get down on themselves or allow them to dwell on a bad call.

We have come a long way. To say I am proud of my guys is an understatement. Lil Chris brought his 'A' game and really pulled his share of the load this tournament. Munger gave all he had and then some. His heart is as big as all out doors. With him we know he will never let us down. Our most steady player, Kevin, worked his butt off all day on a layout that was difficult at best. Big Chris stepped up and was just a killer. In four or five games Big Chris would hold his lane till the game started breaking down and then charge up to make a game breaking move. It was great to see the big man come back so strong after his surgery.

The finals aside, OC regained their drive this tournament and came out swinging from the very start. OC will win this season, of that I have no doubt, we just have to stop trying so hard and just let it happen. We have worked on our skills, now we must work on the mental aspect of the game. Getting upset, dwelling on bad calls or bad play and letting our tempers get the best of us will no longer be a problem for OC.

Off Constantly stumbles in April
April 24, 2010

After being at the bottom of the team rankings for so long; OC was very confident prior to the April CFOA Race to 2 event. As the team coach; my fear of the team being confident is that they become too confident. Being overly confident can lead to believing in your greatness but you then forget to prove how good you are. Basically, in your attitude you have already won the tournament before it even starts. The real problem with this is you forget to actually win the dang tournament.

In our first two tournaments the guys had a quite cockiness’. They were confident but knew they had to prove it. In the first two tournaments the guys had some light banter between themselves but you could tell they were in the groove, on their game. This last tournament the guys seemed to be too loose. The banter seemed to be over board, myself included.

I have always said that every tournament is a learning experience. In my opinion OC learned a huge lesson during this tournament.

As the coach, this loss was on me. There were some assignments I should have changed. There were some lanes that needed to be shot and others that didn’t need to be shot. The center of the field was working all day. The snake was a dead end for us, yet I kept pushing it. The ‘D’ side should have been pushed more but wasn’t. As the coach, I failed this event. Players will always play their hearts out but when they start getting down on themselves a good coach will step in and fix the problem. Sometimes that means changing the direction of the advance, other times it means pumping up a player that feels they can’t do something that you know they can. I feel the guys gave all they could but to keep getting beat down, no matter how hard you play, can be demoralizing.

OC had a bunch of our friends there to cheer us on and we could not rise to the occasion. We did have a great time with our friends. We would like to thank them all for coming out. We would also like to (as always) thank our sponsor; Predator Paintball – Salisbury, NC (owner: Mike Holshouser).

OC will be back on the grind May 22nd at PBC in Rock Hill, SC. After the beating we took in April, we will be back in the groove and on our game.

Off Constantly takes second!
March 27, 2010

The second event of the 2010 season for the CFOA (the Dirty South Open in McDonough, GA) was OC's best event on record. We played with such intensity in this event I was blown away. We took it to every team we played. In the prelims we went six and one, winning all three of our prelim matches. We were ranked in first place going into the semi finals.

We breezed through the semi finals. We won both matches in a very commanding way. After the semi finals we were eight and one and still ranked in first place.

To say the whole team was walking on air at this point would be an understatement. There was a long delay before the finals and during this lull the guys may have lost their edge just the tiniest bit. The first match of the finals was a rout. We went out aggressive and the team we were playing was more defensive. They hit their break out bunkers clean and locked down lanes. We were aggressive and ran right into their paint. We lost the first one but no one got down. We kept our edge and was ready for the second match. Through out the day we fought with pride, strength, heart and soul. We left everything we had on the field. Off Constantly has always fought hard but this tournament was one for the record books.

In the second match we came out with a lot of heart. We made our break out bunkers and moved a little more cautiously up the field. It was a hard fought match and though we didn't win, the other team had to earn the win.

Off Constantly has finally arrived. We earned respect from the other teams and convinced ourselves that we are good enough to stand toe to toe with any team and come out the winner. I have never been so proud of my guys. We proved that we are a team to be reckoned with. 2010 will go down as the turning point for Off Constantly.

OC would like to thank our main sponsor, owner of Predator Paintball - Salisbury, Mike Holshouser. We couldn't give you a win this time Mike but there will be some wins this season. Thanks for all you do for us. With your help you have insured that we will be on top of the podium this season.

Off Constantly takes fourth!
February 27, 2010

The first event of the 2010 season for the CFOA (the Queen City Masters in Rock Hill, SC) was a great showing for OC and a great start to the season.

We started very strong and won our first two matches. After those wins we lost the next four in a row. In the past that would have put an end to a good day. As we were waiting to play our last two matches I noticed a strange thing, determination. There was some lite banter back and forth between the guys but mostly the guys just watched each match with a look of determination. Watching them, I knew we were going to win.

We did what we had to do, we won both of our final matches with authority. There was doubt what we were there to do. We finished the prelims in fourth place. The CFOA was only taking three teams to the semi's. So, we missed making it to prelims by a tie breaker of time left in matches. We lost third by two minutes.

Though we didn't make it to the semis, I left knowing that this was going to be the season Off Constantly stands on top!

LOOK OUT 2010.
February 1, 2010

The 2010 season for Off Constantly is about ready to crank up. Off Constantly will be splitting forces this season and running two different series. We will have one squad captained by Larry McDaniel out of Georgia playing D5 in the GFOA. The other squad will be captained by Mike "Duck" Burkhart and will be playing D4 in the CFOA. Squad rosters will be released when finalized.

Both squads are looking really good for the season and will surprise a lot of teams that under estimate either team. The off season has been a long one but practice was very intense for both teams. Hard work in the off season will always lead to good things during the season.

The season looks good and we are, once again, ready to suit up and do battle on the field. We would like to take this time to thank our sponsors for the 2010 season, without whom, the season wouldn't even get started. First and foremost I would like to thank Mike Holshouser (owner) of Predator Paintball - Salisbury, NC. He has supported Off Constantly for the last three seasons and is more than our sponsor; he is our friend. The help he has given is something a team at our level never receives. Through Mike we have been able to upgrade our equipment, have affordable practice paint, a beautiful field to practice on and the support of anything he has to offer. Mike's support can never be repaid nor can our appreciation ever be expressed enough. From my heart Mike, thank you.

We would also like to thank all our new sponsors for the 2010 season. Through Predator Paintball - Salisbury we have the good fortune of using Valken soft gear as well as using their great paint. Valken makes some of the best soft goods and paint on the market. We would also like to thank ANS gear, Planet Eclipse, Exalt, Adrenaline Sports, Tadao Technologies, The Engraving Room and Black I Designz. We plan on making this a great season for our sponsors and supporters.

OFF CONSTANTLY IN THE OFF SEASON.
November 15, 2009

The 2009 season is over (thankfully) for Off Constantly. We will start building for the 2010 CFOA D4 season November 2009. If you are a D4 player or looking to move up from D5 and feel like you could fit in with Off Constantly please email Duck at mike@fwcarrier.com and let him know of your desire to play with us.

Off Constantly will field two teams for the 2010 schedule. We will field one D4 team in the CFOA for the complete 2010 schedule. We also plan to field a D5 team (out of Georgia) in the GFOA for the complete 2010 schedule.

Off Constantly looks forward to the 2010 schedule. We would like to thank Mike Holshouser (owner: Predator Paintball - Salisbury and Holshouser Cycle Shop) for all of his support. Without him we would not be able to enjoy this game. His support is irreplaceable and very much appreciated.
